The incalculable value of kid appeal.

It will probably be blogged all over the place, but Charlie Simpson is inadvertently the most famous 7 year old in the world today. He’s the little boy who cycled around this local London park seven times (5 miles) on Sunday to raise (£500 ambition) money for Haiti after seeing the pictures from Haiti on the television.

He started collecting money using a homemade sponsorship form and registered on Justgiving.com (a charity donation website) a week ago and then the story took off, it has been carried by all the traditional media outlets and got thousands of blog mentions. If you search for Charlie Simpson + Haiti you get half a million hits.

The tipping point came on Sunday, in the morning he had collected £9k, by mid morning it had increased to £30k, this morning it was £90k and between 1 and 2pm today (note lunch, I am not dossing) it has grown by £5k (10 times his original ambition) to over £101k.

Check out where is has got to by the time you read this http://www.justgiving.com/CharlieSimpson-HAITI
